Bio: Francis Arevalo is a Filipino rapper, artist and producer born and raised in Vancouver BC, on the unceded, ancestral, and occupied, traditional lands of the Coast Salish peoples specifically the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. He is fulfilled by community building, cultivating creativity, and sharing truths. His music has been described as coming from "the feeling that he’s found and embraced a truth deep within himself, that he sees the world not through rose-coloured glasses, but in shades of optimism, hope, and beauty" (DOMINIONATED, September 2018). He is known for his personal storytelling, honest lyrics, energetic performances, and uplifting energy. He is one-half of the musical duo Roya & Francis.
He is also a passionate mental health advocate whose journey battling bi-polar disorder through music was the subject of a 2017 Vancouver Asian Film Fest award-winning documentary "The Lion"; for this, he was named one of the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health Top 150 Canadian mental health advocates of 2018.
